How Pastor John MacArthur’s Ministry Changed My Life Forever

I don’t have the right words to express the loss I feel right now. Pastor John MacArthur has stepped into eternity. His faith is now sight—and I sit here with tear-filled eyes, knowing that my life, my family, and even my calling were shaped by the faithfulness of a man I never met, but who discipled me all the same.

Cast Out for Standing on Scripture

In 2010, we were asked to leave our Pentecostal-charismatic church after we gently confronted the leadership with Scripture. They taught extra-biblical, emotional doctrines that didn’t align with the Word. We stood on the truth, and they showed us the door.

What followed was four years in a spiritual desert.

We searched for a church that was faithful to Scripture. I had long drives with my oldest daughter, struggling with health challenges, navigating spiritual disorientation, and feeling utterly alone. At one point, we were literally trapped in a mountain blizzard in Pennsylvania—physically and spiritually stuck. My husband and twin one year olds in the mountains and my oldest daughter and me stuck in the valley. I hit a low I cannot explain.

But God, God wasn’t finished. That season broke me… and prepared me for what was to come.

Then I Found the Voice of Truth

It started with a providential meeting between my husband and truck driver. Then came his first MacArthur Study Bible. Then one sermon. Then another. Then the Strange Fire conference. I listened to Pastor John MacArthur every single day. I consumed his teachings like living water. I listened to that conference on repeat for months. My daughter sat in the car with me, soaking in truth because her mama had finally found it.

Then came my first MacArthur Study Bible. I opened it and saw Scripture explaining itself. Expository preaching wasn’t just information—it was transformation. It was Christ, made clear.

God Moved Us Out of the Mountains and Into Mission

God led us to a church pastored by Justin McKitterick—a graduate of The Master’s Seminary and a man mentored personally by Pastor MacArthur. He had served on MacArthur’s ministry team. The same clarity I had heard from a distance was now in the pulpit in front of me.

We weren’t lost anymore. We were planted.

The Ripple That Reached Me

Because of Pastor MacArthur’s ministry:

I became a woman grounded in the Word. I became a mom who trains her kids in truth, not trends. I became a wife who trusts the sufficiency of Scripture in the home. I became an advocate who fights for the vulnerable with boldness and biblical clarity.

His legacy isn’t just academic. It’s personal. It’s eternal.

“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.” – John 17:17

“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season…” – 2 Timothy 4:2

“Remember your leaders… and imitate their faith.” – Hebrews 13:7

Until We Meet

Pastor MacArthur, thank you for showing us that faithfulness matters more than fame. That Scripture is enough. That truth never bends to culture. And that the church deserves to be fed—not entertained.

Your teaching made me into a better woman. A better mom. A better disciple of Christ.

Until we meet in eternity, brother—

Grace and peace to you.
